Evangelism Explosion Model

Evangelism Explosion Model

The evangelism explosion model is a tool designed to train church members to evangelize with a particular plan. The value of this plan is that it can be used in casual conversation with a person. The plan centers on two lead questions that provide an opportunity to present the gospel. This plan offers a starting point for evangelism, discussion points for the future, and a concluding pint of salvation.

Question 1: Do you know that if you were to die today that you would go to Heaven?

If the answer is no, say “What you like to know what the Bible says about how you can be sure?” If the answer is positive, you can present the gospel. You don’t need the second question in this case.

If the answer is yes, proceed to the next question.

Question 2: If you were to die today and stand before God, and He asked, “Why should I let you into My Heaven?” what do you think you would say?

If the person gives a biblical answer, all you need to do is to find out whether the person has followed through on his or her knowledge and obeyed the gospel. If not, urge the person to do so. Very often, however, the person will answer with some kind of works salvation concept: go to church, obey the Ten Commandments, be a “good person”, or something of the sort. Gently point out that, while doing things is admirable, it cannot save a person. Ask the person if you can share what the Bible says about why God will let someone into Heaven:

The Gospel:

Grace (Romans 6:23)

God (I John 4:8)

2. Just - must punish

Jesus (John 1:1, 14; Isa. 53:6)

1. Who He is - God/man

2. What He did - paid the penalty for our sins

Faith (James 2:19)

1. What it is not

- mere intellectual assent

- temporal faith

2. What it is

- Trusting Christ alone (Acts 4:12)

- Active, obedient faith (Acts 2:38)
